Mike Desmond is a Guitarist, Composer, Producer, And An Educator Based In N.Y.

 

    Being raised in the surrounding suburbs of NYC, Mike Desmond grew up playing Rock, Blues, and Funk in basements and garages with his friends. Always interested in broadening his horizons and musical abilities, Mike began to explore Composition, Improvosation, and Jazz. Throughout his high school years he was fortunate enough to study privately with guitarists Chris Amelar, Mark Dziuba, and Frank DeBretti. With their guidance and encouragement, Mike decided to further his musical education by attending Berklee College of Music in Boston.

    While attending Berklee College of Music, Mike Desmond concentrated his focus on performance, composition, and teaching. He studied under guitarists Bruce Bartlett, Mick Goodrick, and after graduation he took his education even further and studied privately with legendary jazz guru Charlie Banacos, with whom he worked with for the next four years.

    After returning to NY, Mike began teaching at guitar workshops, local music stores, and soon started his own business providing private guitar, bass, composition, and production lessons for students in the privacy of their own homes throughout Westchester, NY and Fairfield County, CT.

    Mike Desmond has written music for films with members of Hans-Zimmer's team Nathan Whitehead and Matthew Margeson. He also collaborates and performs with Disco Biscuits drummer Allen Aucoin as well as many other fantastic and outstanding musicians in the NY area.

    Mike Desmond currently resides in Katonah N.Y. where he continues working with students, writing, producing, and performing.
